GREEN ENERGY CORP ANNOUNCES SUCCESSFUL GREENBUS PILOT TESTING IN WORLD’S LARGEST SMART GRID LABORATORY
DENVER, CO, January 27, 2011 – Green Energy Corp, a software technology company that enables traditional and emerging power providers to move to the Smart Grid, today announced that it has successfully implemented its commercial GreenBusTM platform within the National Science Foundation funded Future Renewable Electric Energy Delivery and Management Systems Center (FREEDM) Engineering Research Center (ERC).
“By testing in this challenging environment with many demanding advanced applications such as distributed generation and PEV/PHEV, we’ve been able to enhance and validate our GreenBus product,” said John S. Camilleri, Product Manager at Green Energy Corp. “The FREEDM center is also an excellent way for utilities to see and demonstrate the GreenBus.”
The FREEDM Systems Center consists of five partner institutions: Arizona State University, Florida State University, North Carolina State University, Florida A&M State University, and Missouri University of Science & Technology. It also includes 2 international partner institutions, RWTH Aachen University and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, and currently 49 industry partners, including ABB, American Electrical Power (AEP), Dominion, Duke Energy, GE, Progress Energy, Southern California Edison, Toyota and TVA.
The 20,000 square foot FREEDM ERC headquarters at NCSU includes office, laboratory and meeting room space. The FREEDM Center main lab space was specifically designed to accommodate the 1MW Green Energy Hub which will be used to house, demonstrate and test all FREEDM generated technologies, as well as a showcase and test bed for third party hardware and software smart grid technologies. The hub includes a 12kV distribution lab, research labs, various renewable energy resources, energy storage devices, a state-of-the-art Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) and a Distributed Energy Control Center (DECC) powered by Green Energy Corp’s GreenBus platform. The GreenBus platform has been installed in the FREEDM Green Energy Hub DECC for more than a year and has been used for operating, demonstrating, and testing of FREEDM research projects.
