This Week’s Colorado Company to Watch:

Green Energy Corporation

Colorado Companies to Watch is pleased to announce Green Energy Corporation, as This Week’s Colorado Company to Watch. M3 Insurance, and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, in partnership with Colorado Companies to Watch congratulate Margaret Burd, President and CEO, and all of Green Energy’s employees on this accomplishment.

Green Energy Corp is a Colorado based technology company who provides an open source software solution, the GreenBus, and software engineering services to the utility, energy and communications industries.

Headquartered in Denver with offices in Durango and Raleigh, N.C., Green Energy has experienced 13% revenue growth in 2011 and is currently on track to surpass that value in 2012.

The GreenBus is a platform specifically designed for the utility and microgrid markets that integrates legacy software and devices with smart grid technology. It is also designed to handle the massive amounts of data that correspond with the advancements of the power industry’s Smart Grid evolution.  The advancements of the Smart Grid are founded in information.

These advancements are changing the grid from a power economy to a data and power economy where the data is used to enable the next-generation power consumer.  The types and volume of data associated with Smart Grid requires a need to create the software infrastructure necessary to acquire data and render useful information.

The GreenBus is unrivaled to cost effectively address both of these challenges due to its unique open source strategy which is designed to promote innovation within legacy and emerging power system markets. Offering the only open source solution specifically designed for the energy production and distribution market differentiates the GreenBus from competitors.

Green Energy’s objective according to Founder and CTO Peter Gregory “is to inspire and create innovation in the energy market comparable to the mobile communications market by engendering creativity from the edge in.” Beyond the business, Colorado Companies to Watch congratulates Green Energy Corporation on being This Week’s Colorado Company to Watch.
